14 Jun Team Teach Accreditation
At Freedom Care, we are dedicated to providing continuous staff training and development opportunities. We have an established team of Support Workers who are trained to provide a range of different support services to the young people within our care. We take pride in ensuring that our care packages cover a range of needs including Early Help, Family Intervention, Disability and Additional Needs.
Recently, members of our Support Worker team travelled to Weymouth to undertake Team Teach training. This award-winning course is delivered by experienced Trainers with a focus on providing the skills needed to successfully de-escalate challenging situations and reduce the need for physical intervention.
Team Teach generated a chance for our Support Workers to understand what challenging behaviour is and how to respond to it by utilising de-escalation skills and strategies. Through the training, our team has elevated their ability to positively communicate towards challenging behaviours and develop a framework to better respond therefore reducing risk. Whilst the training does provide strategies for low-level positive-handling techniques, it focuses largely on a holistic approach, aligning with our own company values. This training is suitable for applying across low-risk children’s service settings.
The Team Teach methods are an internationally recognised form of training and highlights how feelings and emotions drive certain behaviours. By utilising the skills taught in this course we can approach the situation with the view to de-fusing the matter with a thoughtful and effective understanding of why the young person by behaving a certain way, therefore actively listening to their immediate needs and providing a safe environment, fostering opportunities for the individual to better understand their own reactions and how to reduce outbursts in the future.
