Today, Freedom has over 90  employees and 350 clients across the South of England.

“The catalyst for starting Freedom was probably when I fell pregnant with my first child, Lottie in 1998. I became a stay-at-home mummy for two years and absolutely loved it. However, coming from a large family and having moved to the Isle of Wight had made me feel very isolated. I thought if I felt like this then a lot of parents must also feel the same way. I had always dreamed of running my own business and toyed with a few ideas, and Freedom was then born.

I vividly remember writing our induction manual after I had put Lottie to bed and spent many hours juggling both parenting and setting up a business. In 2020, Freedom launched their standalone website for Children’s Social Care. The company has been supporting Social Care teams since 2005, although very low-key during that time. When the company relocated to Lymington in Hampshire, this developed further when Freedom started to supply Children’s Social Care to Bournemouth Council back in 2014. Now the company supplies many local authorities including Southampton, Dorset, Isle of Wight, Southwark and Suffolk.

Fran comments, “Freedom has gone from strength to strength since the business started, I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved over the years and I believe our core values and ethos resonates through the business, staff and care teams. This business would not be what it is today if it wasn’t for those working for Freedom and my amazing family who have supported me from the beginning”.

Fran continues, “When we started the business in 2001, we couldn’t have hoped to achieve what we have. What we find most rewarding is some of the toddlers we cared for in the early days, becoming child carers now they’re, all grown up.”

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Freedom will be organising an event in early Autumn to celebrate their 20 years in the business.

Fran comments “The event is to say thank you to all the staff, both past and present, care teams and clients, who have been on this journey with me. Without our care team, clients and family support Freedom would not be the success it is today.”
