Fran Graves

Group Managing Director

I have an extensive background of people management and have a diploma in Business and Finance. In a previous life, BC (before children) I ran large retail outlets and managed teams, products and bottom lines.

Post children I am still managing teams but my product has changed significantly. My main role within the business is to develop teams, ensure quality and create new areas of business. I have always loved children. I have an eye for detail and incredibly high standards. My can-do attitude is how we have grown the business….it is also the thing that drives my team to distraction! In my spare time I love renovating properties and when not doing that I’m spending time with my family or enjoying being part of the local triathlon club. I love helping families and organisations with their childcare or social care needs, the more complex the better— problem solving gives me great satisfaction.

Julie Nicholson

HR Manager – BA (Hons) QTS

My role in Freedom as HR Manager is mainly the recruitment of all staff. The Childcare and Social Care Co-Ordinators liaise with me on a regular basis to inform me of gaps in staffing or specific role requirements. My role then is to advertise for staff and then continue with them on their on-boarding journey. I also provide training links to staff that have gaps in their course requirements. This enables me to help staff improve on their Continuing Professional Development journey. I am involved in continually updating the website to streamline our processes.

I have worked as a Year R/Year 1 Teacher in a challenging primary school of 600 children. Within each class half of the children had additional needs. I have also been a nanny and housekeeper for a very busy family. Another role I have dipped my toes into is lecturing. Lecturing on the Childcare Foundation Degree. I am a mum of two grown up children, I love gardening and craft work

Sandra Farmer

Business Development

I have been a member of the Freedom team since 2006, although I was aware of this concept from the beginning.

My role at Freedom has been very varied from making craft kits in the office to selling them at Craft fairs as a way to promote Freedom. I have also helped man the stand and The New Forest Show. I have been very involved doing Wedding Fayres, setting up talking with potential new clients for Wedding Creches and Babysits for their special day, or any special occasions. My role in Business Development also means I contact potential clients to meet up and introduce them to our services and thoroughly enjoy doing so.

I apply my previous experience as an Account Manager for a Stationery and Office equipment company where I worked for 21yrs doing various rolls. This has given me the confidence to be able to contact, meet, talk with and explain  to potential present and future clients the special services Freedom offer.

I worked for 13 years at a Nursery, working up from nursery assistant , through the ranks to Nursery Manager. My daily tasks would consist of ensuring staff ratio’s, ensuring staff are covered for lunch breaks, completing risk assessments, staff appraisals, staff observations, supervisory conversions and multi-agency meetings.

Belinda McDonald

Accounts Administrator

I have been working with Freedom since October 2019 as an Accounts Administrator.

My involvement with Childcare/social care started when my daughter was a child, I gained my level 3 in Health and Social Care, level 3 Childcare, Assessing Award, then went on to do my Post 16 Qualification, which gave me my entry in to  teaching/assessing childcare in colleges and assessing individuals in their place of work.

I have also been a treasurer for a non-profit making organisation, I then went on to train as a bookkeeper in a childcare setting and eventually become a Finance/Operations Manager of a local charity. This is where I gained my Accounts background and where I am today with Freedom.

My other roles away from Freedom are managing 2 flats, helping the elderly in the community to live as independently as they possibly can and running our family home.
