There are some great things to do with your children at weekends or school breaks in West Sussex.

  • Go to the Park in Haywards Heath –  With 6 hectares of parkland, Beech Hurst park has beautiful views of the South Downs and a wide range of facilities for entertaining the whole family. There is a miniature railway, family restaurant, children’s playground, Bowls, Petanque pistes, tennis courts and loads of space just to run around or have a picnic.   • Go boating at Arundel – Swanbourne Lake is a stunning place overlooked by Arundel Castle. You can hire a rowing boat from March to October if you want to get out on the water, or simply take a walk in the next door Arundel Castle Park.   • Brush up your woodland skills – Try a  weekend in the woods with Woodland Skills, Billingshurst – Near Chichester. This is not just for the boys,  Woodland Skills provide an exciting learning environment where Mothers, Aunts, Foster Carers and feisty Grand Parents can come and spend an exhilarating weekend with the kids.   • Discover the past near Storrington, West Sussex – Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre is and open air museum site set in 36 acres dedicated to the industrial heritage of the south-east. See the Southdown bus collection and village garage, view industry-based collections, such as the Print Workshop and Wheelwrights.
